Bacon show for Zhukova and Abramovich

CCC Moscow, the new gallery set up by Daria Zhukova, girlfriend of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, will host a Francis Bacon exhibition in 2010.

Entitled “Death Shadowing Life: Francis Bacon: The Late Paintings, 1971-92”, it will be curated by Martin Harrison, author of the artist’s forthcoming catalogue raisonné and will travel to the Hermitage in St Petersburg.

The forthcoming show may explain why Mr Abramovich paid $86m on 14 May for a 1976 triptych at Sotheby’s New York—setting a new auction record for a post-war work of art.

To coincide with the opening of a major Bacon show at Tate Britain in September, we publish an in-depth investigation into the market for the artist in our September issue and reveal other collectors including Tottenham Hotspur majority owner Joe C. Lewis and artists Lucian Freud and Damien Hirst.

CCC Moscow opens on 16 September with a Kabakov retrospective.

"Well, this is the fact that people are more fascinated with money than with art..." well yeah, but its just people's nature i guess, especially the richest ones and come on, we're all exited with big numbers xx anyway, speaking of the krasnals, i guess they're becoming "someone", this one friend of mine, whos italian is so amazed with their works that she plans to visit pl as soon as theres possibility so see their works life. that means "International Superstar" i guess, goodluck ppl

Well, this is the fact that people are more fascinated with money than with art... olympic prices race and waiting for new records. And Hirst is here of course - this clever businessman. Also for Zhukova and Abramovich art is fascinating as far as it excites them with big numbers. We never heared about their involvment in anything that was not expensive. Or maybe they did but the media were not enough interested with that to comment.
