paris. The president of the Paris-based Fondation Cartier, Alain Dominique Perrin, has set up a new contemporary art association, made up of key French and Belgian collectors, which will explore the issues of tax on art across Europe and droit de suite (artists’ resale rights). According to the French web publication Le Quotidien de l’Art, Perrin has invited collectors such as Aimery Langlois-Meurinne and Herman Daled to join the organisation, along with the architect Jean Nouvel. The so-called “think tank” will also consider the future direction of the Fondation Cartier; earlier this year, the foundation asked Nouvel to draw up preliminary plans for a new base on Ile Seguin, the island in the Seine that once housed a Renault car factory. The new body is set to next meet in April 2012 in Tokyo.
