The official dates for the 55th edition of the Venice Biennale have been fixed. Next year's international art exhibition is due to run from 1 June until 24 November 2013. The Italian-born contemporary art curator and critic Massimiliano Gioni, who is the associate director of the New Museum, New York, and the artistic director of the Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, Milan, will direct the biennial. Gioni is no stranger to biennials, having organised the critically well-received "10,000 Lives", which formed the eighth Gwangju Biennale in South Korea in 2010. He is also no stranger to Venice's exhibition: for the 2003 Venice Biennale he organised the section called “La Zona”.
