The Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is the premier visual arts institution in Queensland and has established a position as a national leader in the presentation of contemporary and historical art. Based in Brisbane’s vibrant cultural precinct, QAGOMA plays a vital role in Queensland’s cultural community and welcomes more than 1.5 million visitors each year. The organisation has grown rapidly and today employs 270 people with an annual budget of almost A$50 million.

QAGOMA seeks to appoint a Director to lead the organisation in the next phases of growth to achieve its vision to be a dynamic and accessible art museum of international standing. This is a multi-faceted leadership role responsible for the continued high profile positioning of QAGOMA, including the strategic expansion of the Gallery’s collection, programs and services. Success will be reflected by continued growth in the artistic reputation, visitations, innovation and quality of the visitor experience, as well as the financial sustainability of the organisation.

QAGOMA is looking to attract a strategic, engaging and empowering leader with a proven track record in senior-level management roles and experience in major visual arts enterprises either in Australia or internationally. Candidates who have driven higher performance, innovation in engagement and helped build financially sustainable and reputable organisations will be well placed for this critical role.
