new york. Veteran magazine publisher and art collector Richard Ekstract (above with Chuck Close), who in the 1960s helped provide Andy Warhol with video equipment, plans to launch an art fair aimed at the wealthy denizens of Greenwich, Connecticut.

Greenwich Art 2011, which is to be held at the Ox Ridge Hunt Club in nearby Darien (15-18 September) will be convenient for local residents, such as Steve Cohen, the billionaire hedge fund manager and collector, the organiser hopes. “Greenwich is the richest collecting community in the country,” said Ekstract. “With the art market rebounding, my timing is perfect for a postwar and contemporary art fair.”

The publisher aims to organise a 60-strong dealer event, with most coming from Europe, Asia and Latin America and only a dozen from New York. “Manhattan is nearby but a fair with dealers from Brazil and Korea will be a huge attraction,” said Ekstract, who was at the Armory Show this week.
