Five artists win Abraaj Group Art Prize
High-profile award focuses on the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region

The winners of the 2014 Abraaj Group Art Prize—a high-profile award focusing on the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region—are Abbas Akhavan (Iran), Anup Mathew Thomas (India), Basim Magdy (Egypt), Bouchra Khalili (Morocco) and Kamrooz Aram (Iran). The winners were selected by a panel of judges including Glenn Lowry, the director of New York’s Museum of Modern Art. The artists’ new works will be unveiled at the next Art Dubai fair (19-22 March 2014). The Abraaj Group, a private equity fund, launched the prize in 2008.
