Frieze New York will take place a week later than usual in 2015 to avoid clashing with the opening of the Venice Biennale. The preview day will be 13 May and the fair will open to the public from 14 to 17 May.
“We consulted all our partners in the decision, as it was important that we considered all possible implications. We’re confident that the small shift should have minimal impact on everyone involved in making Frieze New York a success,” says the fair’s co-founder Matthew Slotover.
The Venice Biennale will open a month earlier than usual next year (9 May-22 November; preview 6-8 May) so that its launch will be more closely aligned with the start of the World Expo in Milan (1 May-31 October), which is expected to attract 20 million visitors. Meanwhile, the 2015 edition of Art Basel Hong Kong will take place in March instead of May.
