The Mayfair antiques emporium that was home to Partridge Fine Art for over five decades, has been taken over by contemporary dealers Halcyon Gallery. Halcyon has taken a 20-year lease on the 10,000 sq ft Bond Street property, which is spread across three floors. Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the firm that designed London’s Barbican Centre, has been commissioned to work on a face-lift for the Grade-II listed building, which was initially designed as an art gallery in 1911. “Our aim is to bring this distinguished building into the 21st-century,” said Halycon president Paul Green.
The acquisition means Halcyon now has three Mayfair galleries as well as the Birmingham gallery, which Green founded in 1982. The flagship space at Bruton Street, which opened in February 2008, is currently showing an exhibition of paintings by legendary musician, Bob Dylan.
