International call for visitor figures
Museums are invited to submit attendance data for our annual survey
By The Art Newspaper. Web only
Published online: 10 February 2010
The Art Newspaper is preparing its annual report of world-wide exhibition attendance figures, which calculates the average daily visitors to major museum shows. As in recent years, this survey also includes a ranking of the most visited museums.
The information we are seeking is:
* The titles as well as start and end dates of each exhibition held in 2009
* The total number of people who attended each exhibition
* The total number of actual days each exhibition was open
* The number of days per week the museum is open, as well as any closures that may have occurred during the run of the show (bank or public holidays, fire or emergency, strike, etc)
We will be contacting institutions to request this data in the coming week, but any museums that would like to submit their figures early can contact attendance@theartnewspaper.com. Please note, this survey is for non-commercial institutions only, galleries and fairs are not included at this time.
