The two new Brazilian signings on show at Lehmann Maupin’s stand (B13) at Frieze London this week are markedly different in style. The street-art duo Os Gêmeos, formed of twin brothers Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, are known for murals featuring yellow-skinned characters. Sonia Gomes is known for creating sculptures in wire and cloth; her piece Ninho, 2013, is on display. The gallery’s co-founder Rachel Lehmann says that representing the artists “demonstrates our commitment to working in the region and to building stronger ties to contemporary art in Latin America”. Gomes, whose works sell for between $5,000 and $20,000, is scheduled to have a show with the gallery in New York in November 2014. Os Gêmeos, whose works sell for between $90,000 and $100,000, are due to have a show in New York in March 2015.
