Artist's impression of the Lighthouse
Miami Beach will have its own vertical statement of greeting for cruise-ship passengers and land-based visitors alike if Tobias Rehberger gets the green light to install Lighthouse. Described as a “playful beacon” by the German artist, the $500,000 commission could be in place for next year’s Art Basel Miami Beach if the mayor and City of Miami Beach’s six commissioners give the 55ft structure in South Pointe Park their blessing at a planning meeting next week. Part of the city’s public places programme, Rehberger’s work of art would be his first public US commission. The artist is represented by Neugerriemschneider (C15), Grässlin (G2) and Petzel (J17).
