Eliasson show due to open Paris’s Louis Vuitton museum

Frank Gehry-designed, €100m centre could open next year

The ambitious, Frank Gehry-designed museum, due to open in Paris in late 2013, which will house the Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation, will launch with an exhibition devoted to the work of the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson, according to the online publication Le Quotidien de l’Art.

The Louis Vuitton Foundation declined to comment.

The €100m building was originally scheduled to open by 2012 in the Bois de Boulogne district in the west of Paris (The Art Newspaper, November 2006). The museum project, led by the French curator Suzanne Pagé, was launched by Bernard Arnault, the chairman of the luxury goods group LVMH, in a blaze of publicity in 2006.
