Maxwell Anderson to leave the Indianapolis Museum of Art

Maxwell Anderson is leaving his position as director and chief executive of the Indianapolis Museum of Art to take the helm of Dallas Museum of Art on 9 January 2012. Anderson succeeds Bonnie Pitman, who retired from the museum on 1 June. He has headed the Indianapolis museum since 2006, adding over $30m to its endowment through gifts and pledges. Anderson also led the museum’s acquisition and renovation of Eero Saarinen’s Miller House (1957), a residence in Columbus, Indiana, which opened to the public in May.
