My Miami: Kim Heirston

The New York-based art adviser and curator offers her favourite spots in Florida

Kim Heirston

One museum I always visit:

A highlight is always the De la Cruz Collection. Rosa displays incredible generosity of spirit. I try to take every one of my clients to witness the ultimate approach to collecting.

A “secret” Florida art experience:

After the fair one year, I rented a car to visit a dear friend in Key West. We checked out the annual Lighted Boat Parade and were surrounded by hundreds of vessels festooned with

over-the-top Christmas lights. The effect was a cross between the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Fourth of July fireworks... and

oh-so-Koonsian.

My favourite place to eat:

I cannot wait to try chef Masaharu Morimoto’s new Miami flagship, Morimoto South Beach, set to open in the Shelborne Wyndham Grand. Full disclosure: I will be organising a show of work by Teresita Fernández in the lobby.

My favourite place for a drink:

I plan to check out my friend Jeffrey Jah’s Bar Naná pop-up.

My favourite leisure activity:

My daily routine begins—very early—with a morning walk along the beach. When possible, I take a dip in the ocean. One year, I actually closed a deal for a major Twombly painting on the Miami Beach boardwalk.
