Opera singer Plácido Domingo elected president of Europa Nostra

World renowned tenor and conductor Plácido Domingo is the new president of Europa Nostra, an association that lobbies for the protection for Europe’s collective heritage. Domingo was elected at the association’s annual congress in Istanbul. The executive president of Europa Nostra, Denis de Kergorlay, was pleased by the opera singer's election: “He knows what cultural heritage really means; he lives it, he sings it, he enjoys it.” In addition to being a nine-time Grammy award winner, Domingo is well known for putting on benefit concerts for charities. He takes over the presidency from the Infanta Pilar de Borbón.
