MUNICH. Gérard Goodrow, who left the Art Cologne fair in Germany in January, will become the new business development director of Phillips de Pury. He will be based in a new office and showroom in Cologne. Mr Goodrow left Art Cologne by “mutual agreement” having come under fire from 12 German galleries, after he had attempted to overhaul the fair. He will be replaced by Los Angeles dealer Daniel Hug, the grandson of Hungarian modernist László Moholy-Nagy. “Phillips already has an office in Berlin, but I believe you need a presence in the Rhineland. Artists make work and show in Berlin, but the sales are made in this region. This is where you have a concentration of artists, galleries and, importantly, collectors,” Mr Goodrow says. Phillips de Pury has offices in London, New York, Munich, Paris, Geneva, Berlin and Shanghai. B.K.
