Art Basel veteran Helga de Alvear (2.1/M8) plans to show work from her collection in Brazil to coincide with the 2014 World Cup. The exhibition, drawn from her 2,100-strong collection, which includes pieces by Donald Judd and Santiago Sierra, will be staged at the São Paulo Pinacoteca and organised by Jochen Volz, the art director at Inhotim, mining mogul Bernado Paz’s exhibition centre in the Brazilian jungle. De Alvear will visit the gallery in August to finalise plans for the show. “We won’t give any money [for the exhibition]. They will have to arrange shipping, insurance and everything else—I’m still buying for the collection,” she said, adding that the show may travel further south to Porto Alegre.
