Zoo says no to 2010 edition

Cutting-edge fair is taking a year off during "treacherous" times to review its game plan
Zoo, held last year in Victorian industrial warehouses in London's East End, will not be returning for a seventh edition this October

Zoo, the cutting-edge companion to London’s Frieze Art Fair, is taking a year out, and will not return for a seventh edition this October. “Times are still a bit treacherous, so it seems an appropriate moment to review what we do,” said director Soraya Rodriguez. “Buying is not at a level where I could guarantee people will make costs back.” As to rumours that the fair had been considering a move to the ICA, Rodriguez said there “had been conversations”, but that “they didn’t come to much”. Asked whether Frame, a new young galleries section at Frieze last year, had stolen Zoo’s thunder, Rodriguez said the “fantastic section” needs to “settle down before we decide how best to sit alongside it”.

Crying my eyes out. What a shame. Concerning the question "whether Frame had stolen Zoo’s thunder", my guess would be: certainly not. See you next year then. Hopefully.
