El Greco returns to Toledo

Toledo's adopted son, Doménikos Theotokópoulos, more commonly known as El Greco, returns to the Spanish city with a major loan exhibition of more than 100 works from international collections, which opened today, 14 March. "The Greek of Toledo" (until 14 June) is the centrepiece of a year-long celebration of the artist, marking the 400th anniversary of his death. The Museo de Santa Cruz is the main venue for the exhibition, but works by El Greco can be seen in museums and churches all over Toledo, including the Vestry of Toledo Cathedral, the Chapel of San José, the Convent of Santo Domingo el Antiguo, the Church of Santo Tomé and the Tavera Hospital.
