Private sponsorship rescues exhibition centred on Picasso's Rose Period

In spite of fears that enormous insurance costs might have forced postponement or cancellation (see The Art Newspaper, No. 12, November, 1991, p.7), the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, together with the Kunstmuseum in Bern, has secured its ambitious exhibition of the master’s Rose Period with the necessary intervention of private sponsorship. Accordingly, the exhibition opens in Barcelona on 5 February 1992, with major loans promised by all the leading European and American museums.
