The German painter Georg Baselitz has donated his painting Finger painting: female nude, 1972, to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Denmark. The director of the museum, Poul Eric Tøjner, welcomed the gift, saying that the museum could not afford to buy Baselitz works which regularly fetch six-figure sums at auction. The artist announced his gift last month at the closing of his solo exhibition at the institution.
