Mark Jones, the director of the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), London, has announced that he will be leaving after ten years in charge of the South Kensington museum to become the master of an Oxford college. The museum was transformed under Jones by new galleries of Islamic and Renaissance decorative art, among many other projects, during an ongoing programme of modernisation. Jones said he was proud of the way the V&A “recovered its faith in its building”.
