Warhol museum expansion gains Lower East Side traction

The Andy Warhol Museum is moving ahead with plans to open a 10,000 sq. ft outpost in lower Manhattan in 2017. The institution has formed a partnership with Delancey Street Associates, which plans to build a six-acre development called Essex Crossing in the Lower East Side. The developers have agreed to pay for the museum building and to cover any operating deficits in the first five years, according to local media in Pittsburgh, where the Warhol museum is based. The details are still to be finalised. Currently there is no final agreement, a museum spokesman says.
