Stolen sculptures recovered 32 years on

Art Recovery International has found two sculptures that were stolen in 1983 from the Hirschl & Adler Gallery in New York. Central Figure of Day, 1916, by Paul Manship and Figure of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, 1910, by Prince Paul Troubetzkoy are today valued at a combined $250,000. New York’s Gerald Peters Gallery had consigned the works and planned to show them in the Winter Antiques Show in December, but discovered the open claim during the due diligence process. The gallery returned the sculptures to Hirschl & Adler in February.
