The Birmingham-born artist Idris Khan is in demand: Art in Embassies, the public art programme founded by the US government which places works in US consulates worldwide, has commissioned a new work by the ubiquitous London-based wunderkind. The piece, a stamp painting incorporating English text and Arabic calligraphy, is due to go on show in the US Embassy in Islamabad later this year (another of his works is on display at the US ambassador’s residence in London). Finally, an exhibition of new pieces by Khan, featuring composite photographs of a series of paintings with every gesture and line captured on camera, opens at Victoria Miro Mayfair in London next month (Conflicting Lines; 1 May-6 June).
