The French artist Pierre Soulages was the victim last month of an elaborate scam, leaving the 95-year-old €35,000 out of pocket. According to our sister paper Le Journal des Arts, two bogus policemen gained entry to the artist’s property in Sète, southern France, with claims that they were investigating a burglary. The pretend policemen conducted an inventory of items in the house, subsequently stealing the money. Two suspects, both Russian, have since been arrested.
