Almost 15 years after James Turrell’s Skyspace (2004) was installed at Houghton Hall, the estate’s owner, the Marquess of Cholmondeley, has once again opened the doors of his Palladian stately home to the US artist for a new exhibition. LightScape: James Turrell at Houghton will open to the public on 7 June and run until 24 October. Spread across around ten rooms, the show will include the artist’s signature light projections and holograms as well as two outdoor installations and a new site-specific light work which will illuminate the building’s west façade at dusk. The Marquess of Cholmondeley is reportedly an admirer of Turrell’s work, and some of the work on show is from his own collection.
