Works by Cy Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Donald Judd, Anselm Kiefer and Nan Goldin will go on show in the refurbished Lambert Collection in Avignon, which is due to reopen on 11 July. The museum complex, which was founded in the 18th-century Hôtel de Caumont building in 2000, houses 556 Modern and contemporary works that were donated by the former dealer Yvon Lambert to the French state in 2012. The museum has since expanded to the neighbouring Hôtel de Montfaucon, doubling its exhibition space to 3,600 sq. m. Both historic mansions belong to the city of Avignon; the €14m cost of the conversion has been met by the French government, which gave €8m, and local authorities.
