Two US museums acquired the historical archives of art dealers in June. The Washington, DC-based Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution will now house a collection of records and writings belonging to the late New York dealer Ivan Karp, who died in 2012, as well as documentation from his former gallery, OK Harris Works of Art. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles-based Getty Research Institute has acquired the archive of the Margo Leavin Gallery, which closed in 2013. The collection includes 80 works on paper by artists including Hannah Wilke, Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Claes Oldenburg, as well as exhibition documentation and correspondence with collectors and dealers.
