Wot, no Sepp?

Those in need of sporting relief from all the art shown in Basel last month may have headed to the Museum für Geschichte to see “Football: Faith, Love, Hope” (until 16 August). The interactive exhibition, which includes photographs and videos of legendary footballers, historical artefacts and fans’ paraphernalia, examines how the sport has been elevated to quasi-religious status in recent years. Unsurprisingly, there is barely any mention of the corruption scandal engulfing Fifa, football’s governing body, which is based in Switzerland. Perhaps Sepp Blatter—Fifa’s Swiss president, who said in June that he would resign—could pop in for some pointers on the beautiful game.
