Leonardo show in Taiwan proves to be a hands-on experience

The exhibition The Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius in Taiwan has been heavily marketed as a child-friendly experience. There are images of a pair of young dudes visiting the show at the Huashan Culture Park on its official Facebook page. (They test drive the multimedia guide and are even shown wearing white gloves as they handle a reproduction.) But for one unfortunate 12-year-old the trip to see Italian Old Masters, plus models of machines thought up by the great artist-inventor, proved memorable for the wrong reason when he accidentally walked into a plinth meant to protect a still life by Paolo Porpora. Security footage of the boy's stumble has gone viral. The publicity generated about the damaged canvas and its speedy repair is proving something of a silver lining for the show's organisers.
