The artist Danh Vo, who has been ordered by a Dutch judge to create a work of art for a disgruntled collector, is no longer represented by the Berlin-based dealer Isabella Bortolozzi. The split, which has only just come to light, happened last September, in the middle of a court case filed against both of them at the end of 2013 by the Dutch collector Bert Kreuk. He argued that Vo had breached an agreement to produce new work for an exhibition that Kreuk was organising at the Hague’s Gemeentemuseum and to let Kreuk acquire it after the show. But Vo sent an existing piece for display in the show, which opened in June 2013. A Rotterdam court upheld Kreuk’s claim this June and Vo was ordered to create a “large and impressive” installation for Kreuk within a year. Vo has lodged an appeal. Bortolozzi denies that the split was due to the case. Vo could not be reached for comment.
