Louvre director heads to Tehran to renew relations

Jean-Luc Martinez, the director of the Louvre, recently met the Iranian ambassador in Paris and plans to visit Iran in the coming year to discuss co-operation with the country’s cultural institutions, a spokeswoman for the Louvre confirms. The planned visit follows July’s landmark nuclear deal between Iran and the West, which could see the lifting of sanctions against Iran. In June, Yannick Lintz, the head of the Louvre’s Islamic art department, travelled to Iran for talks.
