A feast of treats are due to be unveiled next year at the seventh edition of the Glasgow International festival (8-25 April 2016) which includes exhibitions, events and site-specific commissions across 60 locations. Director Sarah McCrory will present a group exhibition at Tramway featuring works by Mike Rottenberg of Argentina, US artist Sheila Hicks and German-born Lawrence Lek. The latter will unveil an intriguing new video installation focusing on the QE2 ocean liner which was built in Glasgow (the city’s mighty industrial heritage is the backbone of McCrory’s programme). Meanwhile, Open Glasgow, a section for new work, will encompass a group project called Co-Pourri comprising works by Laura Yuile, Leslie Kulesh and DKUK (aka Daniel Kelly) who are all associates (or participants) at the Open School East art school in Hackney, east London. Their pieces will fill three empty retail units in the Savoy Centre on Sauchiehall Street, providing an arty backdrop to the burger joints, nail bars and beauty salons.
