Pop star Sting and his wife Trudie Styler are putting their art and design collection under the hammer. More than 200 lots will be up for grabs at the Christie’s sale on 24 February in London, giving a glimpse into the couple’s rather eclectic tastes. “Formed over the past 20 years and lovingly housed in their former family home at Queen Anne’s Gate in London, the collection vividly captures the couple’s knowledge and passion for Art and Design,” says a press statement. Estimates range from £1,000 to £500,000, with works on offer by the Chinese artist Zeng Chuanxing, Gustav Klimt, Ben Nicholson, Keith Haring, Pablo Picasso, and Robert Mapplethorpe. But there are some surprises—who knew that the pair were passionate about the paintings of Veronica Smirnoff, a Russian artists who made a series of panels especially for the staircase at Queen Anne’s Gate?
