Olafur Eliasson plans to help refugees in a collaborative project at Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21) in Vienna. Green Light, which is due to launch at the foundation’s Augarten space in February, was conceived by the Danish-Icelandic artist as “an active response to the ongoing refugee crisis”, according to a statement. He told us in September that he was searching for a way to create “art jobs” for refugees, many from Syria, who cannot work legally. They will work with university students and ordinary Austrians to assemble a “dynamic sculptural ensemble” of modular lamps using recycled materials. A limited edition of Eliasson’s design will be sold to raise money for the refugee community. At Art Basel in Miami Beach, the artist’s work is at Neugerriemschneider (C15) and Tanya Bonakdar (E6).
