Pictures artist gets comeback show at Petzel

Prominent lenders have rallied around the Pictures Generation artist Troy Brauntuch to contribute works for a comeback show at New York’s Petzel gallery, entitled Early Work (until 9 January). The dealer Larry Gagosian, the Speyer family and the artists Robert Longo and Matt Mullican have lent works. Longo says: “In these enigmatic, powerful early works, there is a decisive psychological distance with a presence of a whisper existing beneath the surface.”
