The French dealer Emmanuel Perrotin is expanding his empire and moving into Asia, with plans to open a new 180 sq. m “office showroom” in Seoul, Korea next month. The new venue will be located near to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

“The space will be inaugurated with an exhibition of French artist Laurent Grasso’s work on 28 April, followed by a solo show dedicated to [New York-based artist] Kaws in June,” a gallery spokeswoman says. The new space also includes a bookshop for editions and books produced by the gallery.

The Art Newspaper understands that Perrotin is also moving ahead with plans to open a vast new gallery space in the Les Moulins cultural complex in the tiny village of Boissy-le Châtel, around 60 kilometres east of Paris.

A spokesman for Galleria Continua, an Italian gallery that runs two spaces in Les Moulins, says: “There is indeed an ongoing project, but nothing is finalised. If it happens, it will be terrific for Galleria Continua.” Perrotin tells us: “We haven’t decided anything yet.”

Perrotin already runs two galleries in the Marais neighbourhood of Paris, a space in Hong Kong and another on New York’s Upper East Side.
