The London- and Milan-based Lisson Gallery opened its first outpost in New York yesterday (3 May). The 8,500 sq. ft space, which spans a block in Chelsea, under the High Line, will “predominantly [be used to] show work by artists who do not have gallery representation in the US”, says the gallery’s director Alex Logsdail. The inaugural show presents new paintings by the 100-year-old artist Carmen Herrera (until 5 June). Lisson is also organising the first US solo presentation of work by John Akomfrah (1 July-12 August).
