Excavations are continuing at Jiang Village, north of the Yangtze River in China’s Jiangsu province, where hundreds of Neolithic graves belonging to the Liangzhu people (3400-2250BC) were discovered in 2015. The site challenges earlier assumptions that the Liangzhu did not live north of the Yangtze. The excavation is focusing on a 3,500 sq. m corner of the site, east of the Taidong River. A 450,000 sq. m area west of the river, which dates to the Tang and Song dynasties, is awaiting excavation.
