Dickinson gallery has brought a bit of Dutch history to New Amsterdam for the spring edition of The European Fine Art Fair (Tefaf) in New York, which opened to VIPs on Wednesday (Anderson Cooper and John McEnroe were among the celebrity collectors spotted roaming the aisles) and runs through 8 May. The gallery’s stand is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of De Stijl, the Dutch Modernist movement that included painters and designers such as Mondrian and Rietveld. Taking over a period room in the Park Avenue Armory, the display co-opts De Stijl’s primary colour palette of red, yellow and blue, and features work by related artists. Joan Miró’s 1955 maquette for the Unesco Plaza’s mural is available for $1.95m, while Alexander Calder’s mobile Red Crescent (1969), priced at $4.5m, hangs from the ceiling.
