The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York has commissioned five important Chinese artists to create site-specific works for its third and final show supported by the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative (4 May-21 October 2018). “Cao Fei, Duan Jianyu, Lin Yilin, Wong Ping and Samson Young have been selected for their unconventional artistic practices, creative experimentation and critical reflections on social conditions in a technologically mediated reality,” says a spokeswoman for the museum. The works will be added to the institution’s permanent collection, and a book including poems, conceptual drawings and images used in the development of the artists’ projects will be published.
