The 87-year-old artist and poet is the inaugural receipient of the £200,000 award, lauded as the UK's largest contemporary art prize

The Serpentine x Flag Art Foundation Prize is open to artists of any age, based anywhere worldwide, who have been exhibiting professionally for less than ten years

In addition to the prize money, the interdisciplinary artist will receive a solo show that debuts at The Contemporary Austin in Texas, then travels to the Flag Art Foundation in New York
