Twitter was sent into a tizzy yesterday when Louvre Abu Dhabi revealed that Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi would soon be coming to the museum, reigniting speculation about who bought the record-breaking $450m painting at Christie’s New York last month. The New York Times solved the mystery last night when it identified the buyer as the little-known Saudi Arabian prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan al-Saud, a close associate of the newly installed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
