National Trust serves a legal notice on the Marquess of Bristol's Ickworth House

The Marquess of Bristol, currently serving a ten-month prison service for the possession of cocaine and heroin, has been served with a legal notice by the National Trust on his ancestral home of Ickworth. The Marquess, Frederick John Hervey, has, according to the Trust, “persistently” breached the terms of the lease. Ickworth was completed in 1830 and housed the collection of the Fourth Earl of Bristol, who commissioned the building in 1794. At his last court appearance, it was estimated that the Marquess has spent £7 million in ten years. He now plans to move abroad.
