The Basel Ancient Art Fair set to launch this November

The fair will occupy the space in the fair calendar left bare by the now-defunct Cultura

The Basel Ancient Art Fair (BAAF) is a new event which takes place in the Swiss city this November (12-17), filling the gap left by the demise of Cultura, the antiquities and Oriental art fair which ended last year. Cultura’s problems of focus and financing stemmed from offering too wide a range of art and objects; BAAF will concentrate solely on antiquities. All 14 exhibitors are members of the International Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA). They include Royal Athena Gallery, Charles Ede and Rupert Wace. BAAF is the brainchild of Amsterdam dealer Vincent Geerling of Archea Ancient Art. The inaugural edition will be held in the Wenkenhof, an historical building just outside the city and close to the Beyeler Foundation. www.baaf.ch.
