Tate Modern’s efforts to broaden its collection has resulted in the purchase of 13 works by contemporary artists from Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon and Turkey. The museum has also acquired eight pieces from Latin America, six from the Asia Pacific region and 14 from South Africa. Highlights include French-Algerian artist Kader Attia’s Untitled (Ghardaia), 2009, Iranian artist Mahmoud Bakhshi Moakhar’s Air Pollution of Iran, 2004-06, Indian-born Subodh Gupta’s Everyday, 2009, and Cuban-born Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s Untitled (Double Portrait), 1991.
