Tong Djoe, a shipping tycoon, was sued by the Hong Kong-based businessman Lawrence Wong Chun Lam after selling him a painting by the Chinese artist Xu Beihong, which is now thought to be a forgery. In December 2010 a district judge ruled against Tong, who then lodged an appeal with the Singapore High Court. Tong has been ordered to repay Wong $200,000 plus $18,000 in legal costs.
