The social butterflies of the Manhattan art scene fly south for the summer—to the South Fork, that is. Today (23 July), the American Federation of Arts (AFA) heads to East Hampton for its annual “Art Day.” For the $225 ticket ($175 for AFA members), guests will join Guild Hall director Ruth Appelhof on a walkthrough of the East Hampton museum’s exhibition “Selfies and Portraits of the East End” (20 June-26 July), tour Pace Gallery founder Marc Glimcher and his art historian wife Milly Glimcher’s art-filled home, visit the studios of painters Susan Vecsey and April Gornik, and see inside the saltbox house that once belonged to Elaine de Kooning, artist and wife of Willem, until she died in 1989 when the sculptor John Chamberlain took it over. All of that plus lunch with AFA trustee and art attorney Lee White Galvis at—where else?—an unnamed private club.
