Pick an object, any object

On 22 August, the Museum of Modern Art in New York opens Take an Object (until 28 February 2016), an exhibition that takes inspiration from a 1964 note written by Jasper Johns in a notebook: “Take an object / Do something to it / Do something else to it.” The show includes work made between the 1950s and 70s, when artists like Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Yayoi Kusama were making art out of coat hangers, ladders and stuffed birds. With modern art, anything is fair game.
